The Zagato Total Design Studio began to work in the public transport sector in 1994, when it developed for ABB the front of the E142 locomotive for the Verona-Munich railway line. Then, in 1998, it set new, avant-garde standards in the design of public rail transport with the Incentro tram, for ADTranz, followed by the development of the Eurotram, with a lowered platform and independent carriages, which was adopted in the cities of Milan and Porto and was awarded the 2001 Compassod’Oro prize.
